Hello, there! I’m Lis, nice to meet you!
It’s been a long time coming for this project. In a way, I feel like I’ve been working on it in the astral since I started writing silly poems in that tiny black notebook when I was only 8 years old. And almost 30 years later, here we are! It turns out precocious children can also be late bloomers.
By The Lighthouse is a representation of who I’m becoming, who I’ve come to accept as a symbol of my own stance in life. You’ll get to know how I got to this conclusion after pursuing greatness and dreaming of Babel’s greed. Surely, the comparison would cause a bit of stirring in some circles, but let’s just say that I’m more than okay with controversy.
Scandal and persecution are not necessarily on my agenda. However, I’ve learned that you can’t always go through life playing the wallpaper flower when your purpose is bigger than you.
In the past 12 years, my healing journey got me wondering: Is there a reason for me to go through all this? The miraculous fact that I’m still walking this Earth doesn’t escape me. After fighting depression, anxiety, PTSD, abuse, bullying, homelessness, and many other extreme situations, I can only see myself as a survivor. But even when I read the word, it feels wrong. Am I? I don’t feel like one. That’s probably why I went deeper into Spirituality to try to decode and finally find my word and purpose. In the back of my mind, I could almost hear: No sailor goes through seastorms and hurricanes to simply drown in a bathtub.
The Lighthouse is my savior, my healer. A safe space where I can finally rest my tempestuous mind, and I want to invite anyone who needs it to come in. I’ll do my best to provide a cozy seat near the fireplace and the best sea stories to pass the time. Maybe if we are willing to look at the wreckage together, we will heal each other under the same storm.
